[update] In addition to the 1GB data plan for $20 per month announced earlier, Verizon now says it will also offer a 3GB plan for $35 and a 5GB plan for $50. Those rates are available at steep discounts to the wireless carrier’s typical offerings, which cost $35 for 250MB and $60 for 5GB.

HOWEVER, this new pricing only applies to a bundled iPad Mifi combo. existing VZN Mifi owners are now eligible for the data package options… Read here for more info on this update.

Well, an Apple iOS product has been confirmed as coming to Verizon before the end of the month… However, not the famed iPhone, but the iPad.

Actually, more of a "flavor" of iPad to be more specific. The Wifi only iPad will make it's debut at Verizon stores on Oct 28th.

Verizon plans to pair the iPad with it's MiFi wireless 3G router to provide connectivity as well.

Verizon will offer three special bundles along with the basic Wi-Fi models, since the 3G-capable iPad uses GSM, not CDMA. The bundles will retail for the same prices as the Wi-Fi + 3G iPads ($629, $729, and $829 for the 16, 32 and 64GB models respectively) but will also include a Verizon MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot. You can also get each model on its own if you prefer, but you obviously won’t be able to use Verizon’s data. Only one data plan option is mentioned, and that’s 1GB of data for $20 a month.

So, if you are looking to break away from AT&T and show VZN unity. This is a good choice. However, know that your MiFi will be the size of a large smartphone, have a battery life of only about 2 hours and you get less data on Big Red… but hey it's a start!
