AT&T and Apple Concepted the iPhone together?

Here is an interesting tidbit I tripped across tonight. Steve Jobs was on hand at an event where Stan Sigman, a former CEO of AT&T Mobility, was being inducted into the Wireless Hall of Fame. Sigman dropped this piece of information about the creation and development on the iPhone as early as 2005…

“Keep in mind when we first decided to come together and develop the iPhone, we didn’t have a prototype,” he comments. “Steve and I had not seen a phone –- we just had confidence in our respective organizations that we could do this.

Pretty cool to learn a bit more
about the history of the iPhone and what really may have led to AT&T’s exclusivity… too bad they did not focus enough on developing stronger capacity and buildout of a network to completely accommodate Apple’s industry changing device…
